I am often surprised at the number of interior designers who don’t realize how much money they could be making by purchasing products at a Vendor’s best pricing. But in a way, it is understandable.  Most interior designers start out by purchasing through retail furniture stores near them.  They might also purchase through designer showrooms for a slightly better profit.  This is the path I took when I first started my interior design business.  There was so much to learn and obstacles to overcome to get to how I purchase now.  I left so much money on the table back then!

It took a while for me to open accounts with Vendors directly and then keeping that account open year after year was also daunting.  It is not an easy task for designers to meet the opening buy-in amount ($$) and annual purchasing volume quotas ($$$) required by Vendors to get their best pricing.  It is not impossible as a small design firm or even a sole designer, but you really need to focus on one or two vendors for ALL your sourcing to meet those minimums, which limits your creativity.

It was for this reason I created The Designers Collaborative.  It is like hitting the easy button for sourcing and profits.  By joining together TDC Members have the buying power that allows for empowering profits with the creative freedom of over 300 Vendors!  Rather than the 20% profit a standard designer price provides, you could be earning the 66% discount of a Stocking Dealer!  SEE the difference you could be making in a living room, below.
