For Love or Money

I don’t think I’ve ever met an interior design professional who got into the industry to make money.

Most designers are like me — people who do what they do because they love design, color, and the opportunity to be creative. Our motivation comes from passion for the craft, rather than a desire to be rich.

There can be a downside to doing what you love for the sheer joy of it. You can end up broke.

The way I see it, money may be the reason some people become doctors, lawyers, or hedge fund managers, but not the reason anyone becomes an interior designer.

But here’s the problem: There can be a downside to doing what you love for the sheer joy of it. You can end up broke.

Membership allows you to do what you love, please your clients, and make money all at the same time.

Is there a way to have it all . . . both the love and the money? I say yes, but not without help — and a willingness to work, invest wisely, and maybe learn a few new things.

That’s where The Designers Collaborative comes in. The Designers Collaborative is only the group for interior designers, decorators, and stagers that brings together professionals from all over North America to pool their resourcing by sharing trade accounts. Its members have access to over 200 vendors at the best pricing available.

Imagine being able to offer products to your clients without having to worry about meeting an opening minimum, or maintaining a vendor account, or figuring out how to match the Internet price of a particular item while still making some kind of profit.

Being a member of The Designers Collaborative frees you from all of those concerns, and allows you to do what you love, please your clients, and make plenty of money all at the same time. It’s a total win-win!
